Hi, we are going to talk about protein today. I'll discuss animal protein and plant protein and their health effects on us.
Protein is one of the macromolecules which the human body needs in large quantity. Protein is made up of small units of amino acids. There are some amino acids that the human body cannot synthesis which is known as essential amino acids. Humans intake these amino acids from different food sources.
Human takes their protein portion from Animals and Plants. Animal sources are known as a complete source of protein because it contains all essential amino acids which our body needs to function properly. While plants lack one or more essential Amino acids in them that’s why it is known as incomplete.
Protein rarely found
separately. Animal protein source also contains a high amount of other
nutrients that often absent in plant source. Such nutrients are zinc, vitamin
B12, heme-iron, Vitamin D, and omega-3.
But if we talk about
Major health risks than animal protein are related to cause major health
diseases. There are certain sources of animal sources that are related to
improvement in our cholesterol levels, weight loss, reduced risk of heart
disease, and also increased muscle mass. On the other hand, a diet high in
plant-based protein lowers the risk of heart disease, obesity, and diabetes.
Animal sources also contain saturated fat and have higher levels of cholesterol than plant protein sources which are not good for human health. This is the reason people avoid animal protein and consider plant protein more healthful than animal protein.
Food sources of Animal protein: meat, liver, egg, and milk.
Food sources of Plant protein: Legumes, soybean, nuts, beans, and peas.
