seeds of grapes. It’s a by-product of the process of winemaking. In the last
few years, this oil has gained a lot of attention because of having high levels
of polyunsaturated fats and its usefulness in both natural medicinal practice
and cooking applications. Next, we are gonna discuss the health effects of grapeseed oil.
Health effects of grapeseed oil:
Grapeseed
oil is high in polyunsaturated oil and mostly omega-6 fatty acids. According to
American Heart Association, people should use polyunsaturated fatty acids which
is beneficial to heart health instead of saturated fats and trans fats in their
diet. Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) reduces cholesterol levels and
many heart diseases.
We should
intake enough omega-6 in our diet if we consume grapeseed oil on a regular basis
or consume too much then omega-6 fatty acid present in it may cause
inflammation that leads to chronic diseases includes cancer. Now, we will talk about the disadvantages and advantages of grapeseed oil.
Advantages of grapeseed oil:
- It
improves inflammation and insulin resistance
- Reduce
risk of heart disease: Grapeseed oil is high in vitamin E, which has high
antioxidant properties.
- Reduction
of Blood clot
- Skin moisturizing
Disadvantages of grapeseed oil:
Regular
consumption of grapeseed oil is believed to be safe, but if we consume in large
quantity results in common effects such as Allergies, Headaches, Mild
indigestion, Dizziness, Nausea, Blood Pressure fluctuation.
How to store grapeseed oil?
There is a no different method to store grapeseed oil than other oils, like peanut or
sesame oil. We should keep it in a dark and cold place which means away from the
source of light and heat. The ideal temperature for storage of grapeseed oil is
between 20 to 25 Celsius or (68 to 77 Fahrenheit).
Cooking Methods
From
high-heat cooking to stir-frying to baking, grapeseed oil is a superb
everyday oil; it's particularly useful in pasta sauce, dressings, and
soups. We can store for up to six months in a cool, dark place or in the
refrigerator.
Vitamin E
can tolerate heat, and grapeseed oil has a high smoke point. On the other hand,
any cooking oil will deteriorate much fast if overheated. When it’s possible,
use cold-pressed grapeseed oil raw in your recipes.
