This Oil comes from the fruit of the oil palm tree. Both saturated and unsaturated fatty acids are present in Palm oil. Some types of this oil contain Vitamin B and beta-carotene as well. About 80% of palm oil produced in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Health effect of Palm oil

Palm oil is linked with many health benefits such as the function of protecting the brain, reducing heart risk, and also improving the level of vitamin A. We use palm oil for preventing vitamin A deficiency, cancer, brain disease, and aging. It is also used for the treatment of malaria, hypertension, high cholesterol, and cyanide poisoning. People are using this oil for weight loss and for increasing the body's metabolism.

Disadvantages of Palm oil

Palm oil, palm kernel oil, and coconut oil are so-called tropical oils and has got a bad reputation because these oils are high in saturated fat, which has been related to causing cardiovascular diseases. Saturated fat boosts "bad" LDL cholesterol and triglycerides, both of which are linked to heart disease. 50% saturated Palm oil has a favorable fatty acid composition than palm kernel oil. Palm kernel oil has a saturated fat of more than 85%. In general, if there is a high amount of saturated fat then the fat will be solid at room temperature. At room temperature, Palm oil is in semisolid form but can be processed into liquid cooking oil.

Storage methods of palm oil

Palm oil is in solid form at room temperature and will keep fresh for quite some time in our pantry. If we store palm oil in the refrigerator it will increase palm oil shelf life.

Cooking methods of palm oil

Malaysian Palm Oil can be used for all types of cooking methods;  stir-frying, deep-frying, and sautéing. Palm oil is also commonly used for frying, even industrial frying, as food get a crispier texture and experience less oil absorption.

Palm oil boost brain health if taken in a balanced manner while if we overuse this oil it has a high risk of causing heart disease. So, choose a balanced diet to stay healthy.
